Obanikoro, Maku, others resign as ministers

Abuja – Seven ministers in the cabinet of
President Goodluck Jonathan have resigned their
ministerial appointments, Punch reports.
The ministers include Labaran Maku
(Information); Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu (Health);
Nyesom Wike (State, Education); Samuel Ortom
(State, Industry, Trade and Investment); Musiliu
Obanikoro (State, Defence); Darius Ishaku (State,
Niger Delta) and Emeka Wogu (Labour).

The ministers quit their posts to pursue their
political ambitions, particularly gubernatorial
elections in their respective states.
Earlier, President Jonathan was reported to have
ordered members of his cabinet interested in
elective posts to resign from office before
October 20.
