ICPC To Track Ghost Workers In MDAsThrough Banks

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other
Related Offences Commission said on
Monday it would track ghost workers in
Ministries, Department and Agencies through
the banks.
The Chairman of ICPC, Mr Ekpo Nta, said
this in Abuja during an interactive session
with newsmen.
He said the plan to investigation the scam
through banks was because the banks were
supposed to have the data of those that
withdrew the salaries.
“We are working with the banks to ensure
due diligence to check the addresses given
by customers were not ignored.
“This is because a day will come when the
address of a customer will be demanded by
the ICPC from the banks and once this is not
given, we will not find it easy with the bank,”
he said.
He said the introduction of the Integrated
Payroll and Personnel Information System
where salaries of workers was generated
outside MDAs had reduced the challenges of
ghost workers in government payroll.
He said, “Since the introduction of IPPIS
what obtains is that you give us the number
of staff in your organisation, their names and
their account numbers.
“Since most ministries and agencies have
migrated to the IPPIS platform, we are now
in the investigation mode in the different
departments, ministries and agencies.
“Where they have sent in ghost names on
IPPIS, those ghosts must collect their monies
through the banks”. (NAN)
