IGP Assures Of Hitch-Free 2015Elections

The acting Inspector General of Police, IGP
Suleiman Abba, in Kaduna on Wednesday,
said the force was fully prepared to ensure
the safety of lives and property of Nigerians
during the 2015 election.
The IGP, speaking shortly after addressing
the rank and file of the Kaduna State Police
Command, said security problems in several
states of the federation would be fully
addressed before the February election.
The police chief assured Nigerians that the
Force was fully prepared to ensure adequate
security before, during and the election.
Abba said, “The officers and men of the force
have undergone training for the purpose of
next year’s general election to ensure that
both the voters and the election officials are
well protected”.
He charged officers and men of the command
to exhibit the spirit of patriotism and
integrity in the discharge of their duties as
this would form the basis for their promotion.
The IGP, who said the familiarisation visit to
Kaduna was to intimate the officers and men
of the command on his vision and mission
for the Nigeria Police Force, and the need for
them to change a new leaf in their attitude,
which he said had been affecting the image
of the force.
He also warned that the Force under his
watch would not tolerate a situation whereby
officers continued to dent the image of the
Nigeria Police by compromising the mission
and vision guiding the force.
Abba warned that any officer found wanting
must be prepared to face the consequence.
Speaking earlier, the state Commissioner of
Police, Umar Shehu, welcomed the IG to
Kaduna and informed him of the successes
recorded so far by his men in the areas of
crime prevention and ensuring a peaceful and
conducive environment.
